Questions

What free documentation templates does TwinWorks offer?

TwinWorks offers six free technical documentation templates: an SOP template (Word), a work instruction template with pictures and a standard work sheet (Word and Excel), a user manual template (Word), an assembly instructions template (Word), a bill of materials template (Excel and CSV) and a training manual template (Word). Each opens in Word, Excel, Google Docs, Google Sheets or LibreOffice, comes in English (US Letter) and French (A4), and is free to use and adapt, with no account and no email required.

Are these documentation templates really free?

Yes. Every template downloads directly from its page, with no account, no email address and no trial. You can use and adapt them in your company, including for commercial work.

Which formats are the templates in?

The SOP, work instruction, user manual, assembly instructions and training manual templates are Word documents (.docx). The bill of materials and the standard work sheet are Excel workbooks (.xlsx), and the bill of materials also comes as a CSV file.

Do the templates work in Google Docs and Google Sheets?

Yes. Upload the .docx files to Google Docs and the .xlsx files to Google Sheets, or open them in LibreOffice, Apple Pages or Numbers. They use plain tables, Word heading styles and standard formulas, with no macros.

Are the templates available in French?

Yes. Every template has a French version on A4 paper, with the French terms: modèle de mode opératoire, instruction de travail, notice d’utilisation, notice de montage, nomenclature and manuel de formation. The English versions use US Letter.

What is the difference between a template and documentation software?

A template gives you the structure of one document. Documentation software such as TwinWorks keeps many documents current: it imports existing PDF or Word manuals as editable drafts, lets authors link each step to the 3D model, and has experts review and approve each revision before it is published.

Need more than a template?

Bring your PDF or Word manuals and a 3D model. TwinWorks turns them into editable drafts your experts review, approve and publish on the web or as PDF.

Or have it written for you: technical writing services.
